Material claims
deserve evidence.

MERE is building an independent scientific verification platform that transforms material testing data into structured, traceable evidence. Starting with cashmere.

01The Problem

A material claim is not the same as material evidence.

The quality of premium materials is usually communicated through supplier declarations, certificates and laboratory reports. Each may be accurate, yet they rarely arrive together, in a consistent structure, or with a clear indication of what has been measured and by whom.

The result is a record that is difficult to compare, difficult to trace back to its source, and difficult to evaluate independently.

A claim

“Premium-grade cashmere, exceptionally fine.”

Structured evidence

  • Measured value
  • Unit & method
  • Source document
  • Review status

Each characteristic linked to how it was measured and where it came from.

A claim is a statement. Evidence connects a measured value to its method, source and review status.
  1. 01

    Fragmented evidence

Testing information is scattered across reports and systems.

  2. 02

    Limited comparability

Different methods and reporting formats make material characteristics difficult to compare.

  3. 03

    Unclear verification

It can be difficult to distinguish supplier-declared information from independently evaluated evidence.

02Our Approach

From material data to scientific clarity.

MERE is designing a platform that brings testing data, methods and documentation together into a single structured record — and keeps a clear line between what has been declared and what has been reviewed.

Proposed workflow · Not yet available to customers

  1. Step 01

    Register

Create a structured identity for a material or batch.

  2. Step 02

    Document

Associate scientific measurements, testing methods, and supporting documentation.

  3. Step 03

    Evaluate

Support a controlled review process that distinguishes unverified claims from reviewed evidence.

  4. Step 04

    Communicate

Present material characteristics through a clear, traceable digital profile.

03Example Material Profile

What a material record could look like.

A demonstration of the structured, traceable profile MERE is developing. The record below uses hardcoded example values and is shown in its draft state.

  1. Identity

A persistent identifier for a specific material or batch.

  2. Measurements

Characteristics recorded with explicit values and units.

  3. Review status

Every value carries its status — nothing is presented as verified by default.

  4. Evidence trail

Methods, reports and documents linked to the values they support.

04Why Cashmere

Starting with cashmere. Built for materials beyond it.

Cashmere is a natural starting point. Its quality assessment depends on characteristics that can be measured — among them fiber diameter, fiber length and composition — which makes it well suited to a structured, evidence-based record.

MERE’s underlying architecture is being designed so that the same principles — identity, measurement, method, documentation and review — have the potential to extend to other materials over time.

Measurable characteristics

Fiber diameter
Fineness, typically expressed in microns
Fiber length
Staple length of the fiber
Composition
Proportion of cashmere relative to other fibers
Guard hair
Presence of coarser outer hair
Foreign matter
Non-fiber content remaining in the material
